:Hear Love

Originally posted on December 1, 2011. This poem is interestingly still very relevant now that we are foster parents. It’s hard trying to show love to kids who have only been shown how to hate.

He held on tightly,
Hitting with words of hate.
Saying what he wanted,
And using no restraint.

Little ears can hear,
And their hearts will absorb.
With brutality does he speak,
His tongue – a two edged sword.

But a strong will emerges,
Amidst the rubble and debris.
The one who can protect them,
Will also set them free.

There is no love
Like one that is pure.
Willing to lose it all,
So that love is all they hear.

This poem was mostly inspired by a strong lady. I don’t even really know her, but inspiration can come from anywhere. Her post here: Hangingoutandin was the inspiration for this poem. Thank you and stay strong. Because of you, your children will hear love, and not hate.

  1. It’s funny, Jason, as I read your words I knew it was my family coming from your heart today. Thank you for this. It’s been tough lately and sometimes I don’t think I can keep going. I will, for my 7 hearts. ~Dee Dee

  2. It really came out of nowhere. I was like, hmmm, what to write? I had finished reading that post of yours and it reminded me of how my dad used words that were rather harsh at times. It just kind of came to me. The last half of this year has been rough for me spiritually and I’m guessing for you as well. I hope this warms your heart a little that you were a saving grace to the rest of your hearts. I hope you don’t mind me linking to your blog (I can remove it if you want), but I felt I should give you props for the inspiration. Now, what to write next? Actually, I’m at work right now, so maybe I should do that first lol! Have a great day.

  3. The ping back was great. I appreciate it. We never know how we touch the lives of others and I like to tell ppl when they’ve touched mine. Have a great day…I know whatever words God gives you next will be just what someone needs to hear. God is awesome like that!
